The decision to fulfill a vision of the board of directors came to fruition in 2012. A lot of consideration was given to commemorate two important people in the lives of two Board Members at Centric Federal Credit Union, Mr. Chris Craighead and Ms. Charlene Brakefield. During this time, The Centric B-C Foundation, a commemorative scholarship fund was introduced and accepted by The Louisiana Secretary of State. Afterwards, the application became a tax exempt public charity (501(c) (3) and was submitted to the IRS in which final approval was granted in March of 2014.
Each year, the Advisory Board reviews applications from student members in Ouachita and Lincoln Parishes. The applicants must display their talents, academic excellence, community involvement and leadership within their school and participating organizations.
The 2023-24 Scholarship application period closed on February 29, 2024.
