Tips to Remember Before You Hit the Black Friday sales

October 23, 2018

It’s that time of year again! Thanksgiving is just around the corner! For a lot of families, Black Friday shopping is an exciting tradition that most look forward to, but there are a few tips you may want to keep in mind this season to help you stay on budget:

  • Create a budget
    • Plan out how much money you have to spend. Set a price for each person you are buying for and do not stray from that.
    • Make a list of things you want to buy and not what the stores are trying to sell you!
  • Just because something is a bargain, doesn’t mean you need it.
    • Spending $50 on a $300 purse you didn’t need isn’t helping your budget!
  • Shop online
    • Many stores participate in online sales and often offer free shipping and other benefits you may see in the store.
    • View your shopping cart total without the stress of people rushing around you!
  • Compare stores
    • This may be the best idea yet! Make sure when you rush through a store to grab the last hot item that there isn’t a better sale going on elsewhere!
  • Use apps

An extra tip for shopping this Black Friday is to pack snacks for fuel! A few lightweight healthy options include beef jerky sticks, small packs of nuts, breakfast bars or peanut butter crackers!

Remember the local stores. Most often we get caught up running to the big box retailers for their sales and forget about picking up a more unique gift at a local shop. Stay connected to local boutiques and retail outlets through social media!

Have fun this year and stay safe! Remember your budget and remember the reason for the season. By creating a shopping budget, you have taken the first step to a stress free Christmas
